Canyoneering

Canyoneering is the craft of descending an otherwise impassable canyon by means of rappelling, climbing, and teamwork. Arizona’s canyons display an incredible array of diversity and each has its own unique challenges. There’s something compelling about descending into a canyon with the understanding that usually the only way out is down. It’s a feeling that many people have become addicted to and that continues to attract more adherents every year. One of the beauties of canyoneering is that it’s an activity that is open to anyone with a decent level of fitness and the willingness to learn the skills inherent.

Arizona Climbing Guides offers guided canyoneering trips into some of the best canyons in the state. In addition we offer skill courses that will teach you the techniques of rappelling, anchor building, and everything else needed to safely descend these amazing passages.

Explore Arizona Canyoneering

Arizona is home to some of the most remarkable canyons in North America. It could be argued though that the canyoneering in Arizona is more diverse than the slot canyons of Utah. We get polished granite narrows that funnel water into deep pools, labyrinths nestled deep within clusters of igneous domes, and we still have the tight narrows that are so often associated with canyoneering!  We determine the appropriate canyon for your trip based on weather, season and client ability levels.
